IS brides: Two more mothers stripped of United Kingdom citizenship, report says

Shamima Begum was stripped of her British citizenship after fleeing the UK to join the Islamic State terror group in Syria aged 15 IS teen's baby dies following stripping of British citizenship

Jeremy Hunt has insisted officials are working on how to rescue British children born to Islamic State runaways after the death of Shamima Begum's baby in a Syrian camp.

The newborn son of British ISIS bride Shamima Begum has died, the Kurdish Red Crescent confirmed to CNN.

Begum's son was born on February 17, days after she was tracked down heavily-pregnant in a refugee camp in Syria.

Begum left London aged 15 with two other schoolgirls to join Islamic State.

The newspaper identified them as Reema Iqbal, 30, and her sister Zara, 28, whose parents were originally from Pakistan.

At one point, she told the BBC that although she was unhappy that innocent people had been killed, she thought the 2017 bombing of an arena in Manchester was "fair justification" in response to coalition airstrikes that have killed women and children in Syria.

Liberal Democrat home affairs spokesman Ed Davey said the boy will be remembered if courts rule that Javid acted "illegally in making a British citizen stateless", the Press Association reports.

This is a Monday Feb. 23, 2015 file handout image of a three image combo of stills taken from CCTV issued by the Metropolitan Police Kadiza Sultana, left, Shamima Begum, centre and and Amira Abase going through security at Gatwick airport, before they caught their flight to Turkey.

Kirsty McNeill, a director at Save the Children UK, said it is possible the baby's death could have been avoided. It was reported that the sisters left for Syria in 2013.

Her family, who pledged to appeal against the decision, also wrote to Mr Javid pleading with him to allow a safe passage for the boy to come to the UK.

Her request sparked national debate in Britain about what the government owed the young woman, who willingly joined the group as a minor and in media interviews seemed to show little remorse, even as she begged to be let back home.

The baby, named Jarrah and just over two weeks old, died of pneumonia, according to a medical certificate, the US-backed SDF forces running the camp where the 19-year-old was based said on Friday.

Her case has highlighted a dilemma facing many European countries, divided over whether to allow militants and IS sympathisers home to face prosecution or bar them from entry as the militants' "caliphate" crumbles. "I am willing to change", she said, following the revocation of her citizenship.

Javid has previously suggested that children of jihadists who lose their citizenship could still be British.

"I just want forgiveness really, from the United Kingdom", she told the BBC's Middle East correspondent Quentin Sommerville last month.

At the time, Ms Begum told the BBC: "Losing my children the way I lost them, I don't want to lose this baby as well and this is really not a place to raise children, this camp".

"No dignified self-governing state should abandon responsibility for its own citizens in this way, trying to dump them on to poorer countries with failed security arrangements", he told The Observer.
