Sen. Sherrod Brown of OH announced Thursday that he will not seek the presidency, a decision he said came after a tour of early primary states left him more confident that his party was focusing more on labor and workers than it had in 2016. "You've heard me say many times that when you love this country, you fight for the people who make it work".
"I will keep calling out Donald Trump and his phony populism".
Sen. Sherrod Brown on Thursday announced that he won't mount a bid for president in 2020, opting to continue his push of a pro-worker platform from the Senate. "I look forward to going back to the Senate where I think I can be most effective".
Brown says he made his decision just a few days ago. He recently finished his tour of the early-primary states - Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and SC - and as recently as the weekend hinted that he was going to jump in.

Meanwhile, Kyle Busch would surely like to follow up his second-place finish at Daytona with a win here in Las Vegas. Too nice to him. "It gave us a lot to learn from today, and I'm really proud of everybody to get a top five".
He also explained his decision in a Twitter thread drawing attention to his tour to make "dignity of work a centerpiece of Democrats' 2020 campaign".
Brown said on November 12, 2018, less than a week after winning his third term to the Senate, that he was considering a presidential run. We've seen candidates begin taking up the dignity of work fight, and we have seen voters across the country demanding it-because dignity of work is a value that unites all of us.
Brown's decision followed months of speculation over his plans - bolstered by a listening tour launched in January that saw him criss-cross early primary states such as Iowa, New Hampshire and SC. And some Democrats believed he could appeal to both the party's left-leaning base and Trump voters because of similar positions to the president on issues like trade. Also, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, an independent from Vermont, said he'll run as a Democrat - as he did in 2016 - for the party's presidential nomination.
Brown is now one of four Democrats who have announced in the last week that they would not run for President in 2020.
"We're doing a dignity of work listening tour", Brown told CNN about the tour.
