Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia told a top aide he would use "a bullet" on journalist Jamal Khashoggi before he was killed past year.

Al-Jubeir expressed less concern about the numerous press reports in recent months indicating that the crown prince's personal communications were being routinely intercepted by US and foreign intelligence agencies.

He also dismissed outside calls to have the Crown Prince step aside.

It came as officials in the kingdom were growing increasingly angry about Khashoggi's criticisms - and the same month he began writing opinion pieces for The Washington Post.

Some 10 million foreigners are working in Saudi Arabia, majority doing strenuous, unsafe and lower-paid jobs largely shunned by the country's 20 million citizens.

It follows a report in The New York Times this week, that clamed the crown prince threatened to use "a bullet" on Khashoggi unless the journalist ended his criticm of his regime.

Cengiz in her statement further added that she is hopeful that Khashoggi's killers will be punished and has appealed to the European Union and the USA to closely follow the case.

However she denounced the fact that Khashoggi's remains still had not been found.

Saudi officials initially insisted that Khashoggi left the building unharmed, but acknowledged weeks later that the journalist was killed.

The prince told Aldakhil if the journalist did not willingly return to Saudi Arabia, he should be returned forcibly or else he would go after him "with a bullet", sources claimed.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sought Vice Media's assistance to build a sympathetic media empire, according to a report published Friday.

"These things happen. Mistakes happen, we acknowledge that this is a huge mistake", he said of the killing, but "those responsible will be held accountable".

Unhappy with Riyadh's cooperation in the investigation, Ankara has called for an global inquiry.

The Trump administration has said that it has no compelling evidence that the Saudi crown prince was directly involved in the killing of Khashoggi.

A Saudi public prosecutor's spokesman said late previous year 11 Saudis had been indicted and referred for trial over the case, with authorities seeking the death penalty for five.

It is unclear if any of the 17 are on trial.

Turkey has sought the extradition of the Saudi suspects, but the kingdom has rejected any notion they could be tried overseas and has not allowed Turkey access to them.
