Trump Calls Potential 2016 Russia Tower Deal 'Very Legal & Very Cool'

Michael Cohen leaves federal court in New York after pleading guilty in August Michael Cohen leaves federal court in New York after pleading guilty in August

Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's former longtime personal lawyer, pleaded guilty on Thursday to lying to Congress about a proposed Trump Organisation skyscraper in Moscow, prompting the president to lash out at Cohen as a liar and "weak person". And he and his whole team consistently lied about it!

The real estate project ultimately fell through, but Thursday's revelations put new pressure on President Trump as they suggest he was engaged in business dealings with Russian Federation in the midst of his campaign.

On Monday, Mueller went to court to declare that former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort had breached his plea deal agreement by lying to special counsel prosecutors, voiding the agreement and opening up Manafort to additional charges. Trump, of course, never traveled to Moscow for this. Trump this week accused Cohen of lying to spare himself time in prison - an allegation that is sure to be fueled by Cohen's request for a punishment that includes no time behind bars. The Mueller investigation has also raised questions about whether conservative author Jerome Corsi had warned Stone ahead of time that WikiLeaks planned to release materials that would hurt Clinton's campaign.

On October 10, 2016, during the second presidential debate, Trump responded to claims from Hillary Clinton that Russian Federation was working on his behalf by saying: "I know nothing about Russian Federation". The special counsel continues to investigate whether campaign associates had advance knowledge of hacked emails becoming public.

Mr Mueller's team has asked Mr Trump about the Russian real estate deal, but it wasn't immediately clear whether that was one of the questions Mr Trump answered last week.

Cohen told told two congressional committees a year ago that the talks about the tower project ended that January, a lie he said was an act of loyalty to Trump. Cohen said that in fact these efforts continued until June 2016, after Trump had clinched the Republican presidential nomination.

His court appearance Thursday marked the latest step in his evolution from trusted Trump consigliere to prime antagonist. "Sentencing is set for December 12", said Guy Petrillo, another of Cohen's lawyers.

KC Star Kareem Hunt Caught on Camera Assaulting Woman In TMZ Video
According to NFL reporter Benjamin Allbright , two league sources asserted that the NFL and organization knew of the video . The clip, which came from an OH hotel hallway camera, was published by TMZ on Friday afternoon.

Cohen's lawyers argued both the campaign finance violations and the lies to Congress were a product of his "fierce loyalty" to Trump, whom they at times referred to as "Client-1", adding that, "In each case, the conduct was meant to benefit Client-1, in accordance with Client-1's directives".

Cohen said in his guilty plea that he had briefed Trump's family members about his talks, although the court documents don't specify which ones.

Trump said Thursday that he had decided not to pursue that project but that "there would have been nothing wrong if I did". "I was running my business, a lot of different things during the campaign". "This begins to show reasons for the president and his campaign colluding with the Russians", said Representative Jerry Nadler, who is expected to become chairman of the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee when Democrats take control of the House in January.

Trump Jr.'s answers allude to a number of prospective projects; he was asked by Senate investigators about news reports about a Trump Tower Moscow negotiation that took place in 2015 and 2016, which he acknowledged but did not detail.

"I have a great company". Lightly looked at doing a building somewhere in Russian Federation. "I don't know whether that's collusion, but anyone who cares about the integrity of our electoral system should worry that a major candidate for president was so beholden to interests and favors of an adversarial foreign power he was likely willing to bend what he said and thought to curry favor with that power". And one sure sign that the president is anxious about Mueller's probe is the increased frequency with which Trump is now publicly attacking Mueller.

A pattern of deception by advisers to President Donald Trump, aimed at covering up Russia-related contacts during the 2016 campaign and transition period, has unraveled bit by bit in criminal cases brought by special counsel Robert Mueller. The briefings for the president's legal team are "highly unusual" but not illegal, the Times reported, and they reawakened discussions about whether Manafort might be aiming for a presidential pardon to short-circuit the years of prison time he faces.
