Amy Schumer had a hunch she would get arrested protesting Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in Washington.

Amy Schumer defended her friend Emily Ratajkowski, who joined her to protest Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in Washington, D.C. on Thursday. It is believed that both Schumer, Ratajkowski, and hundreds of others have been detained.

Schumer, who identifies as a sexual assault survivor, has been vocal on social media about her opposition to Kavanaugh in recent weeks after three women have accused him of sexual misconduct in separate incidents in the 1980s. Some show that the officer asked her if she wanted to be arrested, to which she replied: "Yes".

Inside the Capitol, senators digested the findings in the Federal Bureau of Investigation report on the sexual allegations against Kavanaugh.

"Let's stay together. Let's fight". She shared the message along with a photo of herself holding up a sign that reads: "Respect female existence or expect our resistance". "Men who hurt women can no longer be placed in positions of power", Ratajkowski tweeted.

Another video, filmed by bystanders, shows a cop asking Schumer and other protestors if they want to get arrested, to which Schumer responds "yes".

More than 300 demonstrators were arrested, among them Rutkowski and Amy Schumer. "Let's keep showing up".

According to CNN, senators are now reviewing the results of an FBI investigation into the allegations against Kavanaugh, and may vote as early as this weekend.

The Senate will hold a procedural vote on the nomination on Friday, one which may see Kavanaugh rewarded with the lifetime post to the Supreme Court and tip the balance of the nine-judge set-up in favour of conservativism.

"It's time for women to be heard", said Karen Bralove, an alumna of Holton-Arms, the all-girls preparatory school Ford attended in the early 1980s when she alleges Kavanaugh attempted to rape her.

The I Feel Pretty co-stars were among the 302 people police said they had arrested at the demonstration.
