San Francisco: Tesla CEO Elon Musk has denied that James Murdoch, the younger son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, is going to replace him at electric vehicle maker Tesla.

US District Judge Alison Nathan ordered the brief to show the settlement was "fair and reasonable", which is a common practice in the court.

The SEC noted in the joint letter that it considered multiple factors when it was determining the appropriate penalties for Musk and Tesla, from the gravity of Musk's alleged violations to the CEO's lack of monetary gain resulting from his "funding secured" tweet.

Musk agreed to pay a $20 million fine, and step aside as Tesla's chairman for three years, to settle charges that could have forced his exit from Tesla. Musk remains CEO of Tesla.

In other Tesla news, Director Kimbal Musk sold 1,875 shares of Tesla stock in a transaction on Monday, October 1st. "The Tesla chairman job is ideal for James", one source told the FT. However, the BBC has reported Murdoch "as the favourite" to take the helm at Tesla. Baillie Gifford & Co. lifted its stake in Tesla by 3.1% during the second quarter. (TSLA) and the electric auto maker's CEO Elon Musk have reaffirmed that they are happy with the terms of their previously agreed settlement and have urged a federal judge to get it approved as soon as possible.

The settlement capped months of debate and some investor calls for stronger oversight of Musk, whose recent public behaviour raised concerns about his ability to steer the money-losing company through a rocky phase of growth. Musk tweeted five days later.

T. Rowe Price Associates held 17.4 million shares of Tesla at the end of last month, as per a filing with the SEC. In addition, his statement on the intention to make Tesla a private company has led to accusations by the securities Commission in the United States and then care Mask from his post as head of the Board of Directors of Tesla.

Murdoch's availability to take on the Tesla chairman job has improved as the youngest son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch is leaving his current role with Fox owing to the sale of much of the company to Disney and a reorganization of its remaining units.

Musk is the public face of Tesla, and any chairman would have to contend with his powerful personality.
