Elon Musk embraced the chill vibes set forth by Joe Rogan and smoked a blunt on the comedian's podcast on Thursday night.

The spot on one of the most popular podcasts in the USA marks Musk's first appearance in a public forum since he stunned the financial world last month with his short-lived effort to take Tesla private.

Footage of the interview also shows Musk using a flamethrower. Rogan then said "it's totally legal", and Musk said "OK" and took a drag.

But Musk replies, "I mean, it's legal, right?"

The pair were more than two hours into a conversation fuelled by Old Camp whiskey on ice, ranging from expensive cars and watches to the dangers of artificial intelligence, before Rogan pulled out the joint and lit up.

On the same day that the podcast was published, two executives announced their resignations from the company.

Auletta, a mediawriter for the New Yorker , helped Farrow find a home for the reporting after he parted with NBC. NBC News President Noah Oppenheim told the Times that McHugh "was never told to stop in the way he's implying".

The markets did not take well to the appearance, with shares in Tesla Inc falling on Friday morning. But Musk also said this isn't really a priority, and he also dismissed the concept of a flying vehicle as impractical.

Tesla was not immediately available for comment. Considering the recent stock drop, as well as the apparent effects of Musk's little cannabis puff to Tesla shareholders, Albertine noted that the time might be right for Tesla's Board to step in. When Rogan asked Musk if he had tried cannabis before, Musk stated that he thinks he "tried one once".

Shortly after smoking in the video, Mr Musk looks at his phone and laughs, telling Rogan he is getting texts from friends asking why he is smoking weed during the interview.

Chief accounting officer, Dave Morton, resigned after being with the company for one month, citing intense public attention. "When I was 5 or 6 or something, I thought I was insane", he said. "I want to be clear that I believe strongly in Tesla, its mission, and its future prospects, and I have no disagreements with Tesla's leadership or its financial reporting", Morton was quoted as saying.

Tesla, which is valued at $45 billion, has promised to revolutionise motoring with its electric cars.

Some people speculated that he was high when tweeted he was considering taking Tesla private, because he proposed $420 a share, and April 20 or 4/20 is a reference to weed.
