Pep Guardiola reveals the one signing he wants before the deadline

Pep Guardiola GETTY Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola eyes Community Shield win over Chelsea

Pep Guardiola has warned Manchester City's Premier League rivals that the champions are still well below their peak despite powering to a 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Community Shield. In the Premier League there are a huge amount of games and everybody will be involved.

Pep Guardiola hailed Bernardo Silva's Community Shield performance as "a masterpiece" and suggested the Portuguese is now one of the first names on his Manchester City team sheet.

While Agüero hogged the Wembley spotlight, there was also an eye-catching display from Phil Foden.

That initial concern has been banished by Aguero's relentless appetite for goals and he became the first player in City's history to score 200 times for the club when he opened the scoring in the 13th minute against Chelsea.

If Guardiola needs to make changes then he can look to his bench, where his options include Gabriel Jesus and Vincent Kompany.

"The performance of Bernardo Silva was a masterpiece", Guardiola said.

Sergio Agüero's early opener and a second-half strike from the Argentina forward - goals that took his career haul for City to 201 - ensured the title favourites picked up where they left off in last season's record-breaking campaign.

Guardiola heaped praise on man-of-the-match Aguero after his match-winning brace and Silva for a "masterpiece" of a performance that ensures he is the first name on the team sheet against Arsenal.

Resolving the managerial situation hasn't ended uncertainty around Chelsea.

"We were really impressed when he arrived for pre-season".

Sarri and company jetted off to Australia just days after his appointment to replace the fired Antonio Conte three weeks ago. "Our pre-season until now has been a bit insane I think and so we have to work". It's unclear if they will play for Chelsea again, with the duo linked with moves to Real Madrid.

"We have the idea to be in control of the match but today we were not in control of the match".

"He was training all season with us, he fought with all our players, so that's why it's so good to have another player with this talent".
