North Korea Offered Little Help to Identify Remains

North Korea Might Be Working On New ICBMs U.S. Intel Reportedly Says North Korea is Building New Missiles As Trump Continues to Boast of Progress
Andrew Cummings | 02 August, 2018, 02:07

A senior official at South Korea's presidential office said us and South Korean intelligence agencies are closely looking into various North Korean movements, declining specific comment.

"Work on the new missile likely began after the summit", one source told The Diplomat, referring to the June 12 meeting between U.S. President Donald J. Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore.

Government officials believe North Korea is continuing to manufacture missiles in a facility near its capital of Pyongyang.

President Trump committed to provide security guarantees to the DPRK, and Chairman Kim Jong Un reaffirmed his firm and unwavering commitment to complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. Trump asserted last week that his administration's plan to dismantle North Korea's nuclear weapons is "going very well". The U.S. official who discussed aspects of the return of the 55 boxes on condition of anonymity said the U.S.is considering the possibility of including South Korea in future searches for remains in North Korea. Their strategy includes potentially asserting that they have fully denuclearized by declaring and disposing of 20 warheads while retaining dozens more. However, just as in the case of all the supposed chemical and biological weapons sites in Iraq, US intelligence agencies have in the past declared that certain sites within North Korea were secret nuclear facilities, when further investigation showed less threatening answers.

After racing toward his goal of developing a nuclear-tipped missile capable of striking the continental United States, Kim said in April that he had shifted his country's focus to the economy.

The process of identification could take years, according to experts.

"We too remain concerned" by North Korean violations of UN-approved sanctions, the United States official said. So North Korea pretends to give up the bomb, Trump pretends to believe it, and both sides pretend North Korea has returned American war dead, and they hope to keep it up long enough to sustain some "No-bel!" chants through Trump's reelection campaign.

Pompeo said there was "an terrible long way to go" before North Korea could no longer be viewed as a nuclear threat.

Space launch vehicles were assembled at the shelter - which hadn't been moved since December 2017 - before they are moved to the launchpad, according to 38North analyst Joseph Bermudez Jr. "The nuclear program provides them with a deterrent in their mind against regime change by the United States".

The North Koreans are publicly dismantling an engine test stand at the Sohae Satellite Launching Station.

The U.S., he added, has "to know what they have before talking about caps and arms control".
