The Venezuelan global has made an instant return to the top-flight of English football after being a part of the West Brom squad that succumbed to relegation last term.

"When we were looking for options up front, we knew how important experience would be".

As part of the deal the Magpies have sent Dwight Gayle in the opposite direction, with the striker joining the Baggies on a similar deal.

Newcastle United have bolstered their attack with the addition of Japan global Yoshinori Muto.

Rondon will provide Newcastle with the physicality that Gayle lacked and act as a focal point in attack.

"I am very happy to be a player for Newcastle United", the 26-year-old said.

Muto, who underwent medical and agreed personal terms with the Magpies last week, has joined the Premier League club on a four-year deal.

"The manager attracted me", Gayle told West Brom's official website.

"I think if a bigger club had already been in for Rafa he would have been gone", Allardyce added.

With the club's opening Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur less than a week away, the decision on the players' behalf not to speak to the media will come under widespread scrutiny if they uphold their stance.

Newcastle and West Brom have reopened talks for the transfer of Salomon Rondon.

"I am really pleased to have Yoshinori Muto with us".

The former Crystal Palace forward scored one less league goal than Rondon - and will now look to help Darren Moore's West Brom back into the Premier League at the first time of asking after they lost their opener to Bolton on Saturday.
