Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday he had invited Donald Trump to Moscow and that both he and the USA president want further summits, despite the uproar in Washington after the two leaders met in Helsinki last week.
Regardless of what President Trump said - or meant to say - when he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, the United States is now weaker.
Trump and Putin may meet on the sidelines of an worldwide conference at some point, the Russian government had said, but the upshot of Friday's back-and-forth was that both leaders want another bilateral summit as well at some point.
He added that he would consider a visit to Washington but noted there must be "necessary conditions", without further explanation.
The back-and-forth is the latest round of summit drama flowing from the two leaders' first meeting in Helsinki earlier this month and underscores Trump's eagerness to forge a warmer relationship with Putin, although the Russian does not appear to share the urgency.
CNN cited anonymous sources, saying Cohen was willing to share that information with special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating possible collusion between Mr Trump's campaign and Russian Federation.
The White House said last week that Trump would invite Putin to visit Washington in the fall - news that surprised even some of his top advisers.
Putin said that, in the meantime, it was possible that he and Trump would meet on the sidelines of the Group of 20 summit in Argentina in November, or at another worldwide event. The president has been widely criticized for failing to publicly denounce Russia's interference in the 2016 US election and appearing to accept Putin's denials of such activity.

"In total, in 2018 the fleet should receive 26 new ships, boats and vessels, including four ships with the Caliber missile system", Putin said.
"Having a war declaration or having that level of antagonism with the press does not help the President, does not serve his interests going into the midterms or the reelection", he said. Trump did not answer the questions. Thousands of Moscow citizens participated in protests on Sunday, and the protests featured many anti-Putin chants. On the Democratic side, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called the president's statements "shameful", and former Defense Secretary Ash Carter said it was like "watching the destruction of a cathedral".
He was referring to the federal investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election and whether Trump's campaign assisted or was aware of the efforts. Russian Federation and the United States have a stake in that, the whole word has a stake in that, in not starting an arms race.
