Page and Strzok have been ensnared in a Republican firestorm for months over text messages they exchanged disparaging Donald Trump while working on the Hillary Clinton email probe and Russian Federation investigations, but her attorney said Wednesday there is "no basis for claims that Lisa has anything to hide or is unwilling to testify".
Lisa Page's notorious texts with Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Peter Strzok led supporters of President Donald Trump to claim the feds had it out for Trump and supported Hillary Clinton, and she was supposed to answer questions from the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform Committees on how the Justice Department handled certain decisions leading up to the 2016 election.
Strzok was removed from Mueller's team when the texts were discovered past year.
Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Bob Goodlatte, who issued the subpoena, says Page does have something to hide. She resigned from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in May.
It is unclear if Page will appear. "All she is asking is to be treated as other witnesses have under the committees' own rules", Jeffress said.
House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wis., speaks following a House Republican Conference meeting on Capitol Hill in Washington, Wednesday, July 11.
Lisa Page today defied a House of Representatives issued Subpoena to testify before Congress! "But a subpoena to testify before Congress is not optional; it's mandatory". The DOJ watchdog published a report last month that revealed messages between Strzok and Page which suggested the two of them, along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, would try and stop Trump from getting elected.
"She has known for months that the House Judiciary Committee has sought her testimony as part of our joint investigation with the Oversight Committee into decisions made by the Justice Department in 2016, and she has no excuse for her failure to appear", Goodlatte said.

"Americans across the country are alarmed at the bias exhibited by top officials at the Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation, and it is imperative Congress conduct vigorous oversight to ensure that never happens again".
Page and Strzok tried to explain their texts away, saying their views didn't affect their work. The pair exchanged texts sharply critical of Donald Trump when he was running for president in 2016.
The report did not find that the conclusions in the Clinton investigation were tainted by political bias, but criticized Strzok and Page for their conversations.
As the committees have investigated bias at the Justice Department, they have focused much of their ire on Strzok.
In a letter to her lawyer Amy Jeffress, Goodlatte said she had a choice of appearing publicly along with Strzok in a hearing on Thursday, or accepting to be deposed privately on Friday at 10:00 am.
Most recently, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein fended off such accusations from top Republican Reps.
He testified behind closed doors last month, and his attorney has also clashed with Republicans on the two committees, accusing them of mischaracterizing Strzok's testimony and then refusing to release the transcript of his interview.
