Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi has welcomed talk that the Serie A champions may sign Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

"Given the information published. regarding an alleged agreement between Real Madrid and PSG for the player Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid would like to state that it is completely false", the club said in a statement on their website.

Real Madrid had earlier denied a report that they have offered a world-record 310 million euros ($360.59 million) for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward Neymar.

Juventus have been a dominant force in Italy for some time now.

Juventus declined to comment when contacted by Reuters, while Real Madrid said: "Our official comments are made through our official media channels".

Any transfer would still require Ronaldo to leave and agree personal terms on a new contract.

And according to Sky Sports, Juventus have made the first move to sign the Portugal global.

Ronaldo's future at Real Madrid has been shrouded in doubt ever since Los Blancos defeated Liverpool 3-1 to win a third straight Champions League in May.

Juventus, who have dominated Italian football over the last few years, believe they are in pole position to sign him and feel they are able to offer attractive terms to both the player and his agent, Jorge Mendes.

Italian newspaper Tuttosport led with the move on Wednesday, with Ronaldo on their cover and the headline: "Cristiano, one step away from Juventus".

However, the situation was quite similar a year ago, as the former Manchester United player let it be known that he wanted out of Madrid over issues with Spanish tax authorities, only to end up staying at the Bernabeu.
