Mohamed Salah put aside his highly publicized troubles to score another World Cup goal.

The Liverpool attacker missed the opening game against Uruguay with a shoulder injury and despite scoring against the Saudi's and Russia, Egypt's talisman was unable to help his team progress further in the competition.

Salah made two appearances for Egypt at the World Cup, and found the back of the net twice.

"We want to apologise to all the Egyptian fans, who came to support us here in the three matches", he told beIN Sports. "We reached the cup for the first time after 28 years of absence. The players did their best, and I am sure that the future will be better", Salah, who scored twice in the tournament for the Pharaohs, said.

How to Watch Iran vs. Spain

"Reports that Salah wants to leave are completely wrong", the Egypt FA said. "He did play, and maybe we could have expected more but he can't be the only one to give everything".

There had been high expectations after Egypt qualified a year ago, ramped up after the North Africans were handed what most fans considered a favourable draw and with Salah's remarkable goal-scoring exploits for Liverpool adding fuel to the fire.

It was Egypt's first goal in open play since the 1934 World Cup in Italy, but Salah did not celebrate - perhaps an overt sign that he is unhappy with the situation off the field.

Egypt coach Hector Cuper held the press conference after the game without Man of the Match Mohamed Salah and denied any crises in the team's camp in Russian Federation.

Kadyrov, a former rebel who switched his loyalties to Moscow, faces accusations of gross human rights violations, including abductions and killings. "That's right! I gave Mohamed Salah a copy of the order and a pin at a celebratory dinner that I gave in honour of the Egyptian team", wrote Kadyrov in a social media post.
