Philadelphia 76ers: 3 questions surrounding reported offer for Kawhi Leonard

While the LA Lakers and San Antonio Spurs are reportedly engaged in trade talks for Kawhi's services, with the Lakers reportedly making a "Godfather offer" to the Spurs, this puts San Antonio in an interesting position.

On its social media pages, the Spurs shared, "Happy Birthday, Kawhi #GoSpursGo".

Despite only playing nine games for the San Antonio Spurs this past season season, general manager R.C. Buford is sure to want a lot in return for his star player.

About halfway through the season, rumors swirled about Leonard not getting along with the Spurs organization. While it is believed Philly's efforts to trade up were in targeting Luka Doncic, the Sixers made it clear to teams they were not willing to part with players they rated highly and signed to reasonable contracts. That's when players have to exercise their opt-out options, and if the Lakers can land Leonard before the deadline, they're hoping it convinces LeBron James to take his talents to La-La Land and potentially bring free agent Paul George with him.

Instead, the Spurs appear more intent on sending him off to an Eastern Conference foe-like, say, the Philadelphia 76ers or Boston Celtics. The most important factor will be whether Joel Embiid and James can discuss how they can play together. On Friday, he released a new clip, via Silver Screen & Roll, in which he shows the power of a potential partnership between the Crown Prince of Chino Hills and this summer's biggest free agent. If he does, any team in the league, including the Cavs, will be able to sign him when free agency opens on Sunday.

If the answer to that question is an actual 100% chance Leonard leaves following the 2018-19. It has been a very long time since the Nets have had that to look forward to and Leonard should not be included yet. Brooklyn will be serious contenders next summer due to their two max contract spots.

The 2019 NBA Draft is expected to be a fantastic draft for lottery teams.

Even without Ball, a package of Ingram, Kuzma, Hart and some first-round picks is definitely a competitive offer for a single year of Leonard.
