Lakers Rumors: LA Has Re-Engaged Spurs in Kawhi Leonard Trade Talks

Lakers Rumors: LA's Pitch to Sign Paul George Has Been Revealed A Lakers Fan Has Put Up 40 (Yes, 40) Billboards to Recruit Paul George

James has until late Friday night to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and is watching closely how the Lakers proceed with the Leonard talks.

The pressure is on the Los Angeles Lakers to acquire a star player, as LeBron James is reportedly reluctant to join Los Angeles before another star is also on board.

ESPN has an update (of sorts) on the pursuits of LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard.

San Antonio would prefer to bring back the two-time National Basketball Association defensive player of the year and 2014 Finals MVP, with a contract extension worth over $200 million somewhere on the table, but Leonard distanced himself from the team last season while missing most of it with a mysteriously stubborn thigh injury.

Late Kroos victor for Germany sets football world alight
If Mexico and South Korea both win, Mexico would win the group and every other team would be tied with three points. If Korea is miraculously to advance to the next stage, it must beat Germany and hope that Mexico beats Sweden.

On Tuesday, Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson laughed off the idea of being anxious about the pressure to bring superstars to Los Angeles, citing the number of NBA Finals he played in. When healthy, Leonard has proven to be one of the league's top players, and always seems capable of being in the conversation for the MVP award, which is why it really isn't a surprise to see all these teams expressing interest. That could drive up the price for Leonard, an unusual scenario for a player so close to free agency (and coming off an injury that cost him 73 games last season).

The Celtics could likely trump any trade offer for Leonard, with their vast collection of future first-round draft picks and a current roster littered with young and promising talent. Leonard and James would be quite the formidable duo, and there's no doubt they and the rest of the team would reach their full potential under head coach Gregg Popovich. No team talking with the Spurs about Leonard has found them to be in a rush to make a deal. If the Spurs wait too long, James and George can make their decisions, and the Lakers could move on from Leonard, knowing they may sign him next summer.

Another preference by James that could impact free agency, league sources said, is that he wants to make a decision quickly in July free agency.
