On opening the app, the users will find a "For You" section that has been created to provide the top five news of the moment followed by a tailor-made section that will provide longer news articles.

At its recently concluded I/O event, Google had teased a new Google News app powered by AI, and today that app has been released for iOS users across 127 countries.

The Google News app is available for both iPhone and iPad on the App Store. This helps you quickly get up to date about a particular story. You can sort by the latest stories, as well as topics such as business, technology, sports, science, entertainment, and health.

As someone who used Newsstand all of twice, I can tell you that I've been using Google News pretty regularly since updating to it. Google News gives you everything online about a story and organizes it for you - highlighting different perspectives, a timeline of key events, FAQs, important people, and more.

The brand-new Google News app introduced at last week's opening keynote of Google I/O has arrived on iPhones in the US. When the app is opened, "For You" brings you a brief look at five stories based on your past reading interests; this is a combination of top headlines, local stories, and topics that Google has detected an interest in on your part. The more you use Google News to read stories and watch videos, the better these initial stories will be. The ' Favorites' section gives the starring news topics.

Google says it will share other ways publishers can optimize visibility in Google News in the near future.

What platforms is it on?

Unlike the considerably more limited availability of Apple News, which remains available only in the USA, U.K., and Australia, Google has rolled out its new Google News app to 127 countries worldwide, replacing both the Google Play Newsstand and Google News & Weather apps with a single, unified app. Note that to use the iOS version, you'll first need to install Google Chrome. The effort is also to make it more supportive of media publications.

In an effort to work more collaboratively with publishers, a new feature due soon called "Subscribe with Google" will let outlets and websites offer subscription-based content. Users can use their Google account to avail of these offers once the feature is rolled out.
