"We were able to identify it as Novichok, to identify that it was military-grade nerve agent", Porton Down chief executive Gary Aitkenhead told Sky News.

His comments come a day before an extraordinary meeting - called by Russian Federation - with the world's chemical weapons watchdog, the executive council of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

The facility is located just outside of Salisbury.

Specialists from Britain's military research center at Porton Down have been unable to identify the precise source of the nerve agent that was used to poison former Russian intelligence agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter.

They quickly pounced on Aitkenhead's comments, pointing to them as proof of what they have maintained all along - that the British claims, and those of their Western allies, are fabrications "part of a large-scale political provocation".

British officials have described the request for a joint investigation as "perverse". An 25 additional countries collectively tossed about 100 alleged Russian spies and diplomats out of their embassies.

After it emerged on Wednesday that the tweet had been deleted, the Foreign Office said the post was removed because it "did not accurately report" the words of Laurie Bristow, the UK's ambassador to Russian Federation, which the tweet was supposed to be quoting. It is not clear if the person is suspected of delivering the agent, administering the Novichok, or of being linked to the attack in some other way.

Prime Minister Theresa May told parliament on March 12 that the agent used against the Skripals' was "of a type" (novichok) manufactured in Russian Federation. Meanwhile, her father, Sergei, remains in critical condition.

Bizarrely, the Foreign Office denies Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson claimed the novichock "categorically" came from Russian Federation, despite a recorded interview clearly showing he did.

Netanyahu scraps United Nations agreement to send migrants to West
He added that that the government must "proceed to a new roadmap will remove the illegal infiltrators from Israel". A temporary order obtained by human rights groups had temporarily blocked the implementation of that plan.

The UK government has long pointed fingers at Russian Federation for the attack against the former double agent and his daughter on British soil.

A functional British press would have investigated whether our foreign secretary may have lied to the world about the activities of another country, but alas the media's leading lights were too busy implying Jeremy Corbyn's attempts at urging caution were evidence of some kind of fervent lack of patriotism.

He said: "There clearly was a huge inconsistency in that the Foreign Secretary had made a statement, the Foreign Office put out a tweet in support of what he's said".

"Porton Down identified never agent as military grade Novichok. Egg on his face for the statement he made on German television".

Mr Johnson wrote in a series of posts on Twitter on Wednesday: "It is lamentable that Jeremy Corbyn is now playing Russia's game and trying to discredit the United Kingdom over Salisbury attack".

However, the tweet was deleted and an FCO statement said: "An HMA Moscow briefing on 22 March was tweeted in real time".

He said: "They do".

He said it was for government intelligence to determine who used it. "We have removed this tweet".

"We hope to discuss the whole matter and call on Britain to provide every possible element of evidence they might have in their hands", Russia's ambassador to Ireland, Yury Filatov, told reporters ahead of the OPCW meeting.
