West Ham stayed just above the relegation zone with its latest heavy defeat - a week after losing 4-1 at fellow relegation rival Swansea - but its Premier League plight is nothing compared to West Bromwich Albion's.

West Ham's poor form continued at full pace as the Swans gave the Hammers a hammering in a match of few positives for David Moyes.

If that was not bad enough Chris Wood doubled Burnley's lead minutes later and this time there were scuffles in the stands and one fan ran on and took the corner flag, attempting to plant it on the centre spot.

Moyes' decision to recall England global Joe Hart backfired, with the goalkeeper spilling a Johann Gudmundsson shot to allow substitute Wood to tuck home.

Another supporter then ran on and tried to approach Hart, but got held back, while James Collins had to be restrained from confronting the offender. Joint-owners David Gold and David Sullivan are understood to have left their seats for their own safety.

Moyes told BBC Sport after the game that the fans had gone too far in coming onto the field.

"I've said it all along, Joe's been good, and I've got competition in some places so you have to play well". Michail Antonio rose from the bench to provide a goal and a small measure of dignity for the Hammers but while his display was enough to earn him a start this weekend, most of his teammates will need to improve if they're to keep their own place in the side.

"What was going through my mind?" When it went to two it didn't look like that was the game it was going to be.

"It's a tough situation, I can sympathise with the fans".

Everton and Newcastle eased relegation concerns with wins, while Swansea played with just 10 men from the 11th minute to draw 0-0 at Huddersfield.

"We scored a top goal, a great pass from Matt Lowton and a fine lay-off [by Wood]".

West Ham manager David Moyes says an abandonment of his side's Premier League game against Burnley was not considered by the referee despite strong scenes of crowd unrest.

West Ham called an emergency meeting with the publicly owned stadium's operators and said it was "committed to taking decisive and appropriate action" against the perpetrators.
