Apple to fix blabbermouth Siri bug that reads your private notifications aloud

Now, Apple has acknowledged the existing and persisting privacy-related issue on iPhone and iPad and is working on a fix which will be released soon.

Some iPhone users have had quite a shock lately, as a bug has been causing the device's voice assistant, Siri, to read out hidden lock screen notifications to nearly anyone that asks.

However, a Mac Magazine reader discovered that Siri will read the content of most messages even though the content is hidden on the display.

In order to disable Siri on the lock screen, head to Settings Siri & Search Allow Siri When Locked.

To disable notifications for apps, you need to go to Settings, then select Notifications.

Bomb Hoaxes at Schools in North and East Yorkshire
Several schools in London closed in response to "malicious communications" but re-opened hours later following the police report. A force spokesman said: "Investigations are ongoing and at this stage, we do not believe there to be a credible threat".

Have you endured any embarrassing moments courtesy of Apple's personal assistant?

Now, if you want to read notifications, you have to unlock the phone using Face ID, a password, or some other form of authentication. Apple in the statement said,"We are aware of the issue and it will be addressed in an upcoming software update".

The bug works on the most recent iteration of iOS (iOS 11.2.6) and is said to work on the iOS 11.3 beta as well. Things started looking brighter after the iOS 11.1.3 update but things have tanked once again. And while the bug only applies to third-party notifications - as opposed to Apple's own Messages app - the popularity of third-party messaging services from the likes of WhatsApp certainly makes the bug something to worry about.

KitGuru Says: Apple hasn't had a wonderful time with iOS 11 so far, having to fix its many bugs since it released previous year. Aside from the fix though, iOS 11.3 is also anticipated by many users because it will come with new features like health records, new animoji, and an in-depth battery monitoring program.
