Raiders to move on from K Janikowski

Raiders aren't keeping Janikowski Oakland Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski won't return after 18-year run with team
Isaac Mcdaniel | 16 February, 2018, 06:16

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the Raiders have informed longtime kicker Sebastian Janikowski that they will part ways with him after 17 years.

After 18 seasons with the Raiders, Janikowski will be released and apparently has no intention of calling it a career, via Michael Gehklin of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

But the back injury forced Janikowski to miss last season. Despite turning 40 next month, Janikowski will likely get a chance with another team if he wants to continue playing.

US House passes budget deal, ending government shutdown
After the vote succeeded, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell kept his word to move to open an immigration debate next week. US Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) has released a statement following his vote against the budget agreement.

On his career, Janikowski made 414 out 515 of his field goals, with a healthy 80 percent made.

"He plans on getting another job", Healy said in a phone interview. Janikowski was drafted by the Raiders from Florida State in the first round in 2000, during Gruden's first stint as head coach. And through the 2017 National Football League season, they were the only players selected in the 2000 draft who still played for their original teams. However, both Lechler and Janikowski soon will be free agents, so it's possible neither play next season - meaning Brady would be the only active member of the 2000 class. The club technically could have activated him from injured reserve during the season, but that proved not to be feasible. He filled in nicely, going 16/21 on field goals for the season. He will now have the opportunity to join whatever team he wants to as an unrestricted free agent.
