The new male CEO of British airline easyJet has taken a pay cut to match the salary of the woman in the role before him, Carolyn McCall.

Lundgren's annual pay will be pegged back from £740,000 to £706,000 ($999,343) - which is the same amount McCall was paid prior to her departure to head up broadcasting giant ITV.

According to T&L, the airline did not disclose McCall's starting salary. "I want that to apply to everybody at easyJet and to show my personal commitment I have asked the Board to reduce my pay to match that of Carolyn's when she was at easyJet".

He added: "I also want to affirm my own commitment to address the gender imbalance in our pilot community which drives our overall gender pay gap".

So let's call this an important start - both in message and in action - aimed at keeping the critical conversation going. In all other respects (bonus, LTIP etc.) his remuneration package is identical to Carolyn's.

To show what he described as a "personal commitment" to "equal pay and equal opportunity for women and men", Lundgren has requested that the low-priced carrier's board cut his pay by £34,000 ($48,000) to £706,000. "Like all airlines, pilots are a large proportion of EasyJet's employees, who receive a higher payout than or communities, and most importantly, 94% of pilots are men".

Polish President Pledges Review of Holocaust Law
I strongly oppose it. "One can not change history and the Holocaust can not be denied", Netanyahu stated . Warsaw says the bill will not limit freedom to research or speak about the Holocaust.

Lundgren previously was a deputy chief executive at travel group Tui. The salaries of pilots (and cabin crew members) have been collectively agreed and negotiated with trade unions, which means that y are exactly same for men and women.

EasyJet, a company that is listed in stock market index FTSE 100, is one that has already published its data.

Only about 4% of commercial pilots worldwide are female.

But we recognise we need to do better.

Lundgren also announced he will recruit more female pilots, with the aim of hitting 20 per cent by 2020.
