Packers to sign Mike McCarthy to 1-year extension

Reports: Packers part ways with Dom Capers, defensive coaches Packers fire DC Capers after nine seasons

The Green Bay Packers will go through some wholesale changes in the front office this offseason.

Mike McCarthy has secured another season Green Bay.

McCarthy is now signed through the 2019 season after he was initially expected to enter next year without an extension.

This will help McCarthy attract defensive coordinator candidates who otherwise might have been reluctant to join a lame-duck head coach.

The Packers also fired defensive coordinator Dom Capers, per ESPN's Rob Demovsky, as well as defensive line coach Mike Trgovac and inside linebackers coach Scott McCurley. They lost wide receivers coach Luke Getsy to Mississippi State.
