Former 'Glee' Star Mark Salling Found Dead

Mark Salling has reportedly died in a suspected suicide in California

In October of previous year, Salling pled guilty to charges of possession of child pornography involving a pre-pubescent minor.

A law enforcement official told The Associated Press that Salling was found near a riverbed in Tujunga and the death is being investigated as a suicide.

Authorities were reportedly asked to perform a "welfare check" on the former actor after a family member came to the LAPD reporting that he had gone messing.

Salling's body was found Tuesday morning around 9 AM near a river bed in Sunland, CA.

Salling's attorney, Michael J. Proctor, confirmed the actor had died early Tuesday morning.

In his statement, Proctor said Salling is survived by his parents and brother.

Salling was awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography last month. His formal sentencing had been set for March 7.

The actor reached a plea agreement with prosecutors in October as opposed to the maximum 20-year sentence the charge carries. He also had to register as a sex offender and stay at least 100 feet away from schoolyards, parks, and other locations.

In October, TMZ reported that Salling had cut his wrists in August before accepting the plea deal.

Salling had appeared he almost 100 episodes of "Glee" between 2009 and 2015. Salling denied the allegations and filed a cross-complaint, but went on to settle the suit; a judge ordered him to pay Gorzela $2.7 million.
