Suns Deal Bledsoe To Bucks

NBA Rumors: Suns Trading Eric Bledsoe To Bucks For Greg Monroe, First-Rounder Bucks Reportedly Aquiring Bledsoe
Isaac Mcdaniel | 08 November, 2017, 01:45

After weeks of speculation, and in fact years since they were first rumored to have interest, the Bucks completed a trade with the Phoenix Suns to acquire Eric Bledsoe on Tuesday morning.

The question was always whether Milwaukee could find a trade package that satisfied Phoenix's needs without surrendering promising youngsters Malcolm Brogdon or Jabari Parker.

The #Phoenix Suns have shipped point guard #Eric Bledsoe to the #Milwaukee Bucks for veteran center Greg Monroe, a 2018 protected first-round and a 2018 protected second-round draft pick, according to Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe of ESPN.

But the loss of Monroe will hurt Milwaukee more than it might appear.

However, Bledsoe has missed large chunks of four seasons with injuries. In three games with the Suns this season, Bledsoe averaged 15.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists.

Bledsoe now heads to an up-and-coming Bucks team that has an established young star in Giannis Atentekoumpo and a direction for their franchise, something Bledsoe wanted. As he turns 28 years old later this year, Bledsoe can say he's been on one winning team with the Suns, the 2013-14 edition that went 48-34, finished 10th in the Western COnference, and missed the playoffs. Adding Bledsoe's ability to run an offense and shoot from the perimeter could be big for this team moving forward. The Bucks are now $4.4 million below the luxury tax.

Fox shares leap on reports of Murdoch family talks with Disney
Disney would acquire Fox's movie studio, cable networks like FX, and worldwide holdings including its 39 percent stake in Sky. Instead, it could refocus its business around a core group of news and sports assets like Fox News and Fox Sports 1.

Those caveats noted, this is still a trade worth making for Milwaukee. They also could have as many as three first-round picks next season.

Looks like the Milwaukee Bucks have won the Eric Bledsoe sweepstakes.

While he's got more tools at his disposal, the pressure on Kidd to win now surely ratchets up following this trade.

Meanwhile, Phoenix gets draft pick assets and an expiring contract in return.

The summer of 2019, when Tyson Chandler and Jared Dudley come off the books, remains a better time for Phoenix to get active in free agency.
