While Ezekiel Elliott continues to insist that he is fighting for his name, his attorneys have attempted to settle his case with the National Football League and have the Dallas Cowboys running back's six-game suspension reduced, a source close to the situation told ESPN.

While the fate of Ezekiel Elliott's six-game suspension is being decided in the courts, the Dallas Cowboys running back's lawyers attempted to settle his case with the National Football League, according to a report from ESPN. That means Elliott's six-game suspension for alleged incidents of domestic violence has been put on hold again.

A hearing to determine whether to grant an injunction - which could allow Elliott to remain eligible to play all season - had not been scheduled as of Friday afternoon. He returned to practice the same day and played against the Chiefs on Sunday. He was never charged with a crime by the Columbus, Ohio, authorities who investigated the allegations.

Elliott's lawyers and the NFL Players Association could ask for further litigation if the decision does not go in their favor.

That was the largest gain since July previous year , but was below economists' expectations for an increase of 310,000 jobs. The consensus call among traders was for a 15,000-job advance, according to economists at Royal Bank of Canada.

Elliott missed two days of practice last week after Failla's decision on Monday reinstated suspension that was initially announced August 11.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday issued an emergency stay of the NFL's punishment, the third legal reprieve for Elliott.

If the three-judge panel rejects the request for a preliminary injunction with an announcement Thursday night or Friday, then Elliott's six-game suspension would begin.
