The Swiss on Saturday was shocked by Belgian tennis player Goffin when he came back into the match to turn it in his favour and win 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 at the O2 Arena in London.

The second game of the second set was to prove a turning point as Goffin, beaten 6-2 6-1 by Federer in Basel last month, broke the Swiss's serve with a forehand victor and then consolidated his lead to take the match into a decider.

The sixth seed started where he left off by making a blistering start, winning the first three games.

The resilience that allowed Sock to come from behind and win the first set was nowhere to be seen in the second. "And right now those are the moments that I rise up to".

Dimitrov, in particular, looks to be a leading contender, behind only world No.1 Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer when the rankings update on Monday.

"With the right set of mind, with the right people, with the right support, things happen", said Dimitrov, who admitted he couldn't imagine achieving such success two years ago.

But in a huge turnaround of furtunes, Dimitrov responded in unerring fashion with a flawless 6-0 scoreline in 22 minutes to set up a deciding set shoot-out.

"The important thing is just to stay on the ground and put your head down, work even harder", Dimitrov told reporters. I don't know what to expect.

In response, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) called for an investigation into Franken's conduct. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) agreed .

Yet Dimitrov broke for a 4-2 lead and although Goffin saved three match points at 5-2 down to keep the game alive and rescued another on the Bulgarian's serve, he finally deposited an easy volley into the net on the fifth match point.

But as Dimitrov savoured that one of many firsts by looking forward to a break from the game, Goffin will be in action again next week for Belgium in the Davis Cup final against France.

"I'm very happy and pleased that I get the chance to play for the semifinals on Friday", Thiem said.

Fans may have hoped for a re-run final here of Federer versus Nadal, the veteran grandees who dominated the sport in 2017, but Dimitrov and Goffin offered an enthralling finale and perhaps a glimpse of the future.

We are here in the final of the ATP Masters. "It's the only game maybe I didn't serve well".

"I was a little bit exhausted in the third", Goffin said.

Roger Federer said earlier in the tournament that "Baby Fed" Dimitrov has become more comfortable in his own skin and calmer about his place in the men's game this year.
