Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater cleared to practice

Report: Sam Bradford's knee injury could be career ending Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater nearing return; Bradford's future in doubt

Cleveland is allowing the sixth most points to their opponents so far this year and going against a lackluster defense like the Browns' could be a good opportunity for the Vikings' quarterback to work some of his rust off. Quarterbacks don't get hit in practice, so no one will really know how Bridgewater's knee will respond to contact until he takes a hit in a game and gets back up without issue.

There has been no official statement yet but those two words offer some encouragement.

Dr. Dan Cooper, who performed the surgery in September 2016 to fix torn ligaments in Bridgewater's left knee, cleared the quarterback to return to practice on Monday morning, and coach Mike Zimmer said Monday afternoon that Bridgewater will practice on Wednesday.

Bridgewater went down without contact in the last practice of the preseason on August 30, 2016, suffering a torn left ACL and dislocated knee.

Bridgewater was cleared by a doctor Monday, and Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said will practice Wednesday.

Minnesota has 21 days to activate Bridgewater or end his season by placing him on injured reserve if he comes off the PUP list. He could practice as soon as Wednesday. Vikings head athletic trainer Eric Sugarman said last week that Bridgewater will be evaluated by his surgeon to see if the quarterback is ready to return.

The quarterback's rehabilitation, though, went well. He started at Chicago in Week 5 but re-aggravated the knee injury and was replaced by Case Keenum against the Bears. Starter Sam Bradford has missed four of the past five games with a left knee injury, and it's uncertain when he will be able to play again.

"I don't think anything of (the Bradford and Bridgewater situations)", Keenum said after Sunday's 23-10 win over Green Bay. "So I don't have to answer that question (on Bradford and Bridgewater)". "I can go out and play quarterback and have fun".
