Kaepernick hopes to invalidate the CBA through collusion grievance

As the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback has remained unsigned up to this point, the idea has bounced around the league.

Kaepernick's grievance will pry into the fact that he remains unsigned and will help determine if he is being blackballed, or isn't a player that can add value to an National Football League team, as some have argued.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports also reported the quarterback's plan to file a grievance. NFLPA said it has been in regular contact with Kaepernick, and "Our union has a duty to assist Mr. Kaepernick as we do all players and we will support him".

Some other NFL players followed his lead during the 2016 season, drawing a mixed response from football fans and the general public, with some supporting the protest and others not.

"We first learned through media reports today that Mr. Kaepernick filed a grievance claiming collusion through our arbitration system and is represented by his own counsel". We know that if it occurred, it must have been within the last 90 days, as under Article 17 of the CBA a player has that long to file a grievance.

Kaepernick opted out of his contract at the conclusion of last season with the expectation he would find a new landing spot but has not gotten a new deal and has received surprisingly little interest compared to how well he played last season.

"We are scheduling a call with his advisors for early this week". But it wasn't until the 2017 season and a critical tweet from President Donald Trump that a big wave of players joined in.

The anthem issue flared again a week ago Sunday when Vice President Mike Pence, a former IN governor, left Indianapolis' home game against San Francisco after about a dozen 49ers players knelt during the anthem.

Right. Every player except for the one who started it.

NFL owners will meet in the week to come to consider changes to a game manual that says players "should" stand during the national anthem.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has stated previously that Kaepernick is not being blackballed.
