At least seven people, including six policemen, were killed and over 22 injured when a suicide blast hit a security forces truck in Quetta city in Pakistan's southwestern province of Balochistan on Wednesday, reported local media.

According to initial reports, a roadside bomb exploded on Quetta-Sibbi road just as a police vehicle carrying 35 personnel passed the the Sariab Mill area.

The minister, commenting on the investigation of the Quetta blast which killed seven policemen, said that the forensic team from Lahore will reach Quetta on Thursday.

"Police were targeted in this attack", provincial home minister Sarfraz Bugti told reporters, adding that six police and one civilian had been killed.

Civil Hospital Quetta Spokesperson Wasim Baig confirmed the seven deaths.

Soon after the blast, security officials reached the site and cordoned off the area.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for today's attack.

The police sources say that it was a suicide attack.

POLICEMAN GUNNED DOWN: In a separate incident, Police Inspector Abdul Salam was gunned down on Quetta's Qambrani Road.

Also Wednesday, a roadside bombing near a tribal area along the border with Afghanistan killed two troops.

He prayed for the eternal peace of departed souls and grant of courage to the families to bear this irreparable loss and also directed best medical treatment for the injured and prayed for their swift recovery.

A local commander of the Pakistani Taliban, Sharyar Mahsud, said his men were responsible for the attack.

"These cowardly attacks will not hinder our security forces in executing their duties", he added.

On August 12, at least 15 people, among them eight soldiers, were martyred and 40 others wounded when a suicide bomber targeted a military truck near the Pishin bus stop in Quetta.
