In a possible terrorist attack in Canada, a policeman was stabbed after being hit by a vehicle. An officer of the Edmonton Police Service was thrown 15 feet into the area when the vehicle crashed into the traffic control barricade, according to CBC, and reportedly the driver then stabbed the same officer. Police have confirmed they are treating it as an act of terrorism.

According to police, a police officer controlling traffic at a Canadian Football League game was struck by a auto at high speed and then attacked with a knife multiple times by the driver who then fled abandoning the vehicle.

The officer was conscious when taken to hospital, Pattison said, but he did not specify the nature of his injuries.

The police got the flag of the Islamic State from inside the van. The name of the truck driver was close to the name of the registered owner of the auto that hit the officer.

About two hours later, a police officer stopped a U-Haul truck and saw that the driver's name appeared to match that of the suspect in the earlier incident. Four people were injured by the van, however, the extent of their injuries was not immediately known. The driver took off again, prompting officers to give chase to the large U-Haul van.

'It is believed at this time that these two incidents are related, ' he said.

A suspect has been arrested, and the police believe he acted alone, but authorities do not exclude that other individuals are involved.

Canadian police have detained a thirty-year-old man in connection with vehicular and stabbing attacks in the city of Edmonton.

There was screaming and shouting, and people were running everywhere, ' said one witness. "It just came around the corner, ripping. Edmonton is a strong and resilient city, and I am confident that its citizens will support one another to overcome this tragic event". His name has not been released.

USA national security agencies are looking into the case and have yet to determine whether the attacker was working with others, including Islamic State, or if he was a "lone wolf", a US official told Reuters.

Alberta premier Rachel Notley said on Twitter that her thoughts are with the injured officer and she is hoping for a speedy recovery.

"We are urging all Edmontonians to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings", Knecht said.
