There can be no iPhone launch without some controversy surrounding it.

The numerous reports suggest that iPhone 8 Plus batteries are swelling causing the phone to split apart.

Apple seems to have an iPhone 8 battery problem on its hands, and it's not clear yet whether it's occurring in just a handful of edge cases or in a larger batch of phones. An Apple spokesperson said that the company is looking into the matter, according to the Reuters report.

Numerous analyst reports have speculated that the company's new OLED-screen handset will be in very short supply because of manufacturing issues related to its new display and the new facial-recognition security technology. However, so far not many incidents have been heard of. The user claimed to be charging the phone using only an official Apple power adapter and Lightning to USB cable.

Outlets like MacRumors, Tech Times, The Guardian and more have reported incidents around the world in countries like Greece, Canada, Japan, Taiwan and China.

Acocrding to the report of ThePaper.cn, one buyer with the surname Liu reported that his new iPhone 8 Plus arrived at his home cracked open on October 5. Similarly, when the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus came out there were issues with individual devices.

Companies are not eager to invest in expensive tar sands projects unless the price of oil comes back up. New Brunswick Premier Brian Gallant says the announcement is not good news for his province.

Again unconfirmed, but it is believed that an expansion of the internal battery is causing the devices to split open. It must be noted that phones have minute tolerances, so even a minimal increase in the size of any component could render the device unusable.

However, it's also true that everyone in the industry is more attuned to such problems in the wake of the exploding Galaxy Note 7 situation.

It's been just two weeks since the iPhone 8 hit shelves and made waves for its controversial price tag.

Such incidents will surely downplay the popularity of Apple's latest flagship, which is already being reported to have a comparatively slower start.

Investors are anxious that pre-orders for the device were well below previous launches.

Shares in Apple edged down 0.2% to 155 on the stock market today. This leads us to believe that the phone may burst into flames like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 a year ago.
