Patna HC dismisses pleas against formation of new Bihar govt

While the old guard has given up hope for a marked revival in the party's fortunes anytime soon the young and restless in the party seek 'change.' Government begins probe against Tej Pratap Yadav in Rs 90 lakh ...

The Patna High Court today rejected two PILs challenging formation of Nitish Kumar led government in Bihar. "He is greedy of power", Lalu said, referring to Nitish's charge that Tejashwi Yadav did not come clean on the corruption charges against him, leaving him with no option but to quit the alliance.

"I told them to say factual things that would benefit the Grand Alliance but there was arrogance from the other side".

He claimed the Bihar chief minister did not disclose the criminal case that was pending against him in affidavits since 2004, except for 2012. "It is unfortunate that the coalition has broken", Yadav told reporters in the Parliament.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, the Bihar Politico said that the Prime Minister is the "biggest leader" in the country adding that "no one who can defeat him". A number of other JD (U) leaders are also believed to be unhappy with BJP alliance. According to sources, on Wednesday at dinner party in Ashoka Hotel hosted by Naresh Agarwal of Samajwadi Party, he met a senior BJP minister who asked him about the RJD-JD (U) tension. However, senior JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav struck quite a different note in New Delhi when he said the voter's mandate has been belied by the chief minister's nifty footwork last week.

In another tweet, Lalu said that while Nitish Kumar, accused in a fictitious murder of a person, was killed in the murder of 302, and being a CM, was called by the conscience or was the chairperson?

Even as Kumar defended his decision to align with the BJP, JD (U) veteran Sharad Yadav earlier in the day voiced his disapproval, saying the mandate in the 2015 Assembly polls was for the Grand Alliance. "In his trademark style, Sharadji said, "There are some rumblings within, I will settle it down". Nitish Kumar was speaking at a press conference in Patna yesterday evening.

The wily politician that he is, Yadav seems to have - for now - made a decision to stay within the JD (U) and act as the party's internal voice of dissent at least till a time when he is either won over by Kumar or can break away and join some other party or form his own. Tejashwi has been charged with holding benami property by the CBI and Nitish wanted his resignation which Lalu had firmly said he would not.
