Saudi Arabia's national carrier said a USA ban on laptops and tablets in the cabins of its US-bound planes had been lifted on Wednesday.

In March, the USA imposed a ban on laptops in the cabins of planes coming into the country from 10 Middle Eastern airports.

The United States has ended the ban on large electronics in the cabins of airlines that it announced in March.

Kelly stated that airlines will be required to introduce enhanced screening of personal electronic devices, passengers, and test for explosives - potentially through more swabbing and clothing checks - for roughly 2,000 commercial flights arriving into the U.S. on a daily basis from 280 airports in 105 countries. Spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security David Lapan also tweeted late on Wednesday that the restrictions had been lifted after the airports adopted new security measures.

A ban on citizens from six Muslim-majority countries - Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen - remains in place. The DHS said it would work with so-called stakeholders to ensure the full implementation of the measures "over the next several weeks and months". Unlike the restrictions on Middle Eastern and African passengers, the travelers from the 300 gateways - which include those in Canada and Mexico - can bring on board electronic devices larger than mobile phones.

Airlines that don't make the changes could get hit with an in-cabin electronics ban.

Mexico's aviation authority has instructed US -bound passengers to arrive at its airports three hours early, the AP reports.

Readers, please let us know if you encounter these new security measures while traveling overseas. The controversial ban, introduced by the Trump administration back in March, was nearly extended to all global flights, but has now been scrapped altogether.
