Director General (DG) of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor Bajwa has said on Sunday that Pakistan Army does not have a direct relation with Panamagate Joint Investigation Team (JIT).
In redponse to another question, Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said the army has "no direct involvement" in the Joint Investigation Team formed to probe the family of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Panama Papers case.
Addressing a media conference, the ISPR DG said the operation has been launched to wipe out terrorists and consolidate gains made in other military operations to further enhance the security of Pakistan's borders.
He said Pakistan's security forces had always been carrying out anti-terrorists operations exclusively on the country's land and no foreign boots were ever allowed to take part in such military campaigns.
"Once this operation is completed, we will first secure the global border on our side and eliminate the hideouts of various terrorist groups", Ghafoor added.
He announced that Operation Khyber IV was launched by the army today in Shawal and Rajgal. DG-ISPR Ghafoor said that terrorists are targeting easy targets.
Major Gen. Ghafoor said the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) has been "especially tense" and there has been 580 ceasefire violations this year alone.
Last month, Pakistani army chief had called for a greater border coordination and security cooperation with Afghanistan to contain the brewing threat of ISIL.
DG-ISPR Asif Ghafoor said that the military court had rejected Indian spy Kulbushan Jadhav's first appeal.
