At least ten people were injured as protesters brandishing Pakistani flags clashed with Indian government forces in India-held Kashmir after Eid prayers, Indian media reported.

The security forces used tear smoke shells and pellet shotguns to disperse the protesters.

Similar street fighting also broke out in Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama towns in southern Kashmir.

There were clashes at other places too, IANS reported.

The Kashmir Valley has been witnessing unrest for last few months with incidents of stone pelting, unprovoked ceasefire violations and indiscriminate firing by the Pakistan Army.

Clashes were reported after the Eid prayers from several areas including the old city in capital Srinagar, Anantnag in south Kashmir and Sopore in north Kashmir.

Clashes between citizens and security forces deployed in the restive Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir continued even on the day of Eid on Monday (26 June), but state officials claimed that the celebrations were largely peaceful.
