Bernie, Jane Sanders hire lawyers in response to FBI bank fraud investigation

Andrew Cummings | 27 June, 2017, 05:28

The investigation surrounds a $10 million loan the senator's wife procured for Burlington College to purchase 33 acres of land while she was school president, as reported by Politico. During the campaign, despite who people were voting for, Bernie was voted the "most-liked candidate" by almost half of the Americans polled, according to a report from The Hill during the campaign. The investigation began in January 2016, when attorney and Vermont GOP vice chair Brady Toensing urged the FBI to probe whether Jane Sanders had committed bank fraud to acquire a new campus for the college.

The loan agreement required the college to provide evidence of more than $2 million in pledged donations as collateral.

So how is Bernie Sanders involved in this case?

"I think there is a massive amount of demoralization on the part of the American people with the Democrat Party, with the Republican Party", Sanders told host Chuck Todd.

Investigators are looking into claims that Jane Sanders misrepresented donor numbers to get a loan for the now-closed Burlington College.

Sen. Bernie Sanders called the Senate Republican healthcare bill, the details of which were released on Thursday, "barbaric" and promised to introduce Medicare-for-all legislation during an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper. Sanders used his influence to lobby for the loan is a "political charge" that is "baseless" and "false".

President Donald Trump lashed out at Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party in a tweet Sunday morning, saying the former secretary of state "colluded" with the party in the presidential primary to defeat Sen.

As for Democrats, Wikler said that while it seems like they are "unified and focused", on fighting the bill at the moment, "If we see any hesitation, we'll be in their ear about it".

Bernie Sanders showed why Republicans are screwed, and the more they try to tinker with this bill to win the support of people like Ted Cruz, the faster they are sowing the seeds of their own demise. "That's really all I want to comment about", Leopold said.

Speaking at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C., Sanders said under President Trump, the United States was moving in the direction of authoritarianism and that every aspect of American democracy was under severe attack.
