She then fell asleep for hours. But her account of that day changed over the course of several interviews with investigators until she acknowledged on Friday that she left them in the vehicle intentionally, the Parker County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. She said she thought her daughter would be able to open the auto door and get out whenever she and her brother wanted to leave the vehicle. Both children were pronounced deceased shortly after 4:30 p.m.

The two children were pronounced dead after being found in the auto on the afternoon of May 26, which at the time was the hottest day of the year.

It was only after her nap that Randolph found her children unresponsive inside the Honda Crosstour, police said. Temperatures reached 96 degrees Fahrenheit that day.

She said she later broke the vehicle window to make it look like an accident, the sheriff's office said. After approximately 20 to 30 minutes, she said she realized she had not heard the children playing for a while and noticed they were not in the enclosed back porch area any longer.

When she woke, she went to check on the children and found them unresponsive.

A Parker County mother who told investigators that she locked her two children in a hot auto as punishment was arrested Friday, authorities said. The Parker County Sheriff's Department determined that Randolph changing her story about how her children died was probable cause for arrest.

Authorities in North Texas have arrested a 25-year-old woman for the deaths a month ago of her two children found in a hot vehicle outside their home. Of those, three have been in North Texas, including the two Friday in Parker County.

The children were identified as 1-year old Cavanaugh Ramirez, and 2-year old Juliet Ramirez.

Randolph has been booked into jail but no bail has yet been set. It is uncertain if she has an attorney representing her.

The two young children - a 2-year-old girl and a 16-month-old boy - were found dead in Parker County, Texas on May 26.
